Samsung finally unveiled the new Galaxy Tab in South Korea on July 20th as it hopes to give the iPad a serious run for the money.
The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is now on sale for 671,000 won ($632) for the 16GB model compared to Apple’s slightly lower priced iPad 2, which costs 640,000 won.
Korean customers will have to shell out 748,000 won for the 32GB model, which is slightly less expensive than the corresponding iPad’s 770,000 won price tag.
Samsung has set a sales target of 7.5 million units for tablet computers in 2011 or about five times the 2010 sales volume. Apple reported on July 20th that 9.25 million iPads were sold in the April-June quarter of 2011.
