Samsung Donates $3M for Sandy Disaster Relief

Samsung Electronics North America will provide $3 million to support residents of East Coast communities affected by Hurricane Sandy.

The $3 million will go to the American Red Cross through ABC Television’s ‘Day of Giving,’ with viewer donations being matched on a dollar-for-dollar basis up to $3 million.

Samsung agreed to match employee donations to help with rebuilding and recovery efforts.

“New Jersey has been home to Samsung’s U.S. headquarters since we established our business here in 1982 and our region has been the hardest hit by this disaster,” said Y.K. Kim, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America.

Kim adds: “Samsung’s first priority has been to ensure the safety and security of our U.S. employees and their families. Now it is important that we provide assistance to our neighbors.”
