A ruling from a Dutch court on January 16th, gives hope to Samsung in its battle over Apple over tablet design infringements.
The Dutch court has ruled that some Samsung Galaxy tablet models do not infringe on Apple iPad design and that it supports an earlier decision made by the British court.
The district court in The Hague said the rounded corners found on the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, and Galaxy Tab 7.7 models do not copy the iPad’s design.
Samsung said: “We continue to believe that Apple was not the first to design a tablet with a rectangular shape and rounded corners and that the origins of Apple’s registered design features can be found in numerous examples.”
There are several ongoing legal battles concerning different patents throughout the world between Apple and Samsung on both smartphone and tablet designs.
